Pawsitively Mannered

As a parent, I know how important it is to make sure kids and dogs interact safely. By teaching parents how to supervise and kids how to stay safe, we can prevent trouble. And I get it—when you’re with kids, anything can happen! During in-home sessions, I’m happy to let kids be kids. I turn whatever is happening into a teachable moment.

Kids and dogs can have fantastic relationships. Parents and kids will learn how to read a dog’s body language and practice how to greet, play and pet safely.

Here's how it works:

  • Each week, I’ll visit your home and guide you through smart ways to create safe day-to-day kid/dog interactions. You’ll learn key cues (sit, come, attention, down, stay and loose-leash walking), how to read your dog’s body language, how to create a zen den for your pooch and lots more.

  • Parents and kids get 24/7 access to The Family Dog’s genius online program: Peace Love Kids & Dogs. It’ll help you dig deeper into what you’re learning in our weekly sessions. The program has fun videos and lessons to get you ready for each visit with me as well as great handouts about the topics we’re covering for easy reference.

  • Post your brag sheet on the fridge to keep track of your progress—you’ll be impressed by how much everyone is learning!

  • Get a fun certificate when you graduate to celebrate your new smarts and all of your hard work!

KIDS & DOGS

Kids are bit by dogs a lot more often than adults. Be a Tree is a nationally recognized program designed to reduce dog bites to kids by teaching them to watch dog body language and learn when to stay away. Kids also practice how to safely greet dogs and what to do if a dog is scaring them. Adults are strongly encouraged to learn this critical information as well.

Cost: $50 for 45-minute presentation; student donations of dog food, treats and toys are most welcome and will be given to Redlands Animal Shelter.

For: Schools, libraries, day camps, churches and more

You'll get:

  • 30-minute presentation with practice exercises

  • 15-minute Q&A session afterward

  • Informational packet for each student

  • Travel and setup
